Spectacular — Breathtaking — Sensational

Whether it’s the fabulous views of the fall foliage, the meticulously restored antique cars or a steaming bowl of clam chowder — those are just a few of the words used to describe Klingberg Family Centers’ Annual Antique Auto Show. Since its humble beginning in 1993, the event has become known state wide as both a topnotch auto show and an incredibly fun day for the entire family to enjoy.

Situated on Klingberg Family Centers’ scenic 40-acre hilltop campus, the show distinguishes itself by attracting an impressive selection of vintage vehicles from across New England, and offering a wide range of activities for kids of all ages.

The antique auto show has become Klingberg Family Centers’ major event of the year. Proceeds benefit programs and services reaching out to children and families throughout Connecticut. The generosity of more than 50 area sponsors each year making donations of cash, goods and services bolsters our efforts to give hope to youngsters whose lives have been affected by abuse, neglect, and serious family difficulties.

In keeping with our mission, Klingberg Family Centers has created a truly family-friendly atmosphere as a hallmark of this annual event. Children under 12 years of age are admitted free and the charge for all other spectators is only $5.00. In addition to viewing hundreds of antique vehicles, you can spend an entire day strolling around the beautiful grounds enjoying an array of fun activities. The children will especially appreciate the clowns, stilt-walkers and other entertainers, face painting and balloons — all included in the price of admission.

Throughout the day, dancers will delight you with a selection of tangos, trots, waltzes and mazurkas done with great panache, and in period costumes. In fact, there is barely a moment without music and entertainment. A professional disc jockey from Powerstation DJ Corporation plays a terrific selection of “oldies” guaranteed to make you feel like dancing.

You will come to appreciate the skills and ingenuity of yesteryear as you look over exhibits by both the Vintage Radios and Communications Museum of Connecticut and the New Britain Industrial Museum.

Bring a camera and bring your appetite! This antique auto show boasts one of the best menus around. In addition to hot dogs and kelly dogs, tantalize your taste buds with stuffed baked potatoes, chili, clam chowder or a slice of pie.

It’s hard not to have a wonderful time with so many festivities to enjoy, all against the picturesque backdrop of autumn’s splendor. So come join us each October and feel great knowing that it’s all to benefit children and families.
